I feel sick about Christmas. I am very stressed now, and I would be perfectly happy if we all decided to just not have Christmas whatsoever this year ( Read more... )

Hmm, that is a conundrum. I'm sure your parents would understand it if you couldn't make it, though. Maybe you could visit in the spring when the weather is a little more predictable?

Could you fly someone in from PEI with your ticket?

Could you switch your flight to Ottawa - Halifax and then drive to PEI? The faster your act, the better, because flight prices are only going to go up if you wait.

I've tried all possible combinations of Ottawa/Montreal - Moncton/Ch'town/ Halifax...to see if there was any way to save a few bucks but nothing was really worth it. I mean, it's a little cheaper, but when you factor in the bridge toll and gas, it's about the same as flying right to PEI. It's too bad airfare in this country is so ridiculous. And that Air Canada sucks so much.

Anyway, I think I've decided to try and get credit on the fare I've paid already and I'll probably end up driving. I'm not relishing the thought of driving alone for 15 hours each way, but I think it's what I should do. My dad suggested placing an ad to find people to do a ride-share with, but I don't think I could bare being cooped up in a small car with strangers for that long, it'd be worse for me than driving alone.

Oh yeah! Here're some Christmas present ideas (just what I'm getting for some people on my list):

Scared of Santa

A Season 1 Flight of the Conchords DVD

Cheap t-shirts from Old Navy with an iron on transfer (I'm making a transfer of Robocop riding a unicorn for my brother-in-law)

Classic B movies, like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and The Andromeda Strain. Or you could get someone The Crippled Masters - Two Kung Fu masters, one without arms the other without legs, fight an evil warlord who has a metal hump on his back.

That Scared of Santa book looks awesome! So do some of the "customers also bought" suggestions.

Flight of the Conchords was my favourite present last year, I bought three copies to give as presents. I wish there was something like that this year that I loved as much.

Why have I never seen The Crippled Masters!? I'm not sure anyone on my list would appreciate it, but if someone asks me for suggestions, I know what I'll say!

Dude, you just fly one of your parents out instead, using your tickets. Yeah!

I tried selling that idea to them, but sadly they didn't bite. Maybe it's because they didn't want to get into a fight over who gets the ticket?

It makes me think though that in the 7 years I've been here, they've never come to visit ME in Ottawa, so perhaps they should have a taste of the guilt I get about not visiting.

You should guilt trip them."Spend any money you may have spent on me this year to come down and see me." Thus forcing them to buy a ticket for 2nd parent.

I don't think I'll be able to stop checking, even if I wanted to. i've gotten into the habit of checking 30 times a day.

Aww, I hope you have some fun Christmas plans despite not seeing family.
