A kick in the gut

My van overheated last night, and I drove it immediately to a repair shop. They just called and said I'd blown the head gasket, and it would be $3K to fix it.

The warranty expired three thousand miles ago. Our contingency fund just doesn't have that.

I've had all the scheduled maintenance done. Somehow, that makes it even more annoying.

Sorry to hear about your automobile troubles. $3K is a wretchedly expensive repair. :(
