Got my Chinese midterm back. Got 80% on my oral, which was generous. Also, 90.7% on English to Chinese translation, and 98.5% (!) on Chinese to English translation, for an overall grade of 89.2%. Not stellar by my insane standards, but then again, my insane standards happen to be insane. I'm totally happy with it ( Read more... )

Just bombed my Chinese oral exam. I'm crawling the walls by the time I get into one of those things anyway, and my prof just had to ask me the questions I was least prepared for. I got zero on one of the questions for failing to recognize the words for "tax" and "California" (which have come up in no more than one or two classes this semester). ( Read more... )

"A Canadian study currently under peer review apparently suggests that individuals given seasonal flu shots are twice as likely to get swine flu. The 'perplexing' study has thrown influenza health plans into disarray, with Quebec, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Nova Scotia all suspending seasonal flu shots for anyone under 65 years of age."
