Do not harm the other cat! It is an animal. It does not know better; its instincts tell it to defend its territory from others, and so that is what it does.

Cats do not have the capacity to understand that. They only respect another's territory if they see it as too threatening to challenge. Scare it badly enough, and it will not return while you are there; only do not hurt it, unless it is truly crazed.

Amurui has a point, however- I would have both cats examined by a professional. Fighting cats can lead to a wealth of expensive ailments... an abscess, for instance.
