The conference wrapped up Saturday and early Sunday morning we left St.John's via a bus to Port au Basque. The trip took 14 hours so we saw a lot of country. We made our ferry to North Sidney just on time (our bus broke down and we had to change over to another). It left at 10:30 pm and arrived in Nova Scotia 4:30 am. I could not go further. The hotel here has a business centre so I thought it would be fun to wish everyone a Happy Canada Day. Well everything is up. I should have lettuce by Sunday or Monday. I could use it now. I should be able to use beet leaves when I return from vacation later this summer. The carrots are up. I went for my first bike ride tonight to the liquor store and then Loblaws. The loaded back pack kinda threw me off but once I got the hang of biking with it I was fine. I felt rather empowered and very wierd and car envious. I think I need a shiny new bike so that I can feel that I can compete with all the other shiny vehicles. lol.

Today I played in the garden a wee bit more. I bought a tomato plant (currently named Fred) with blossoms on it. A nice sturdy compact (likes being root bound in a pot) plant. I also took the designer grass from the front garden and put it in a pot. Looks much better in the pot than the garden so I think I will keep it for pots each year. I ( Read more... )

Today was another gardening day. It started off with a visit to a herb farm in Almonte. I finally have a bay laurel plant (after 6 years of wanting one - ever since I was introduced to Utsi's bay tree). It is only 8 inches high but I have hopes for it. I went to my embroidery guild meeting tonight and found out that I had won the bursary I had applied for. My car's lease expired today and I returned it to Saturn. What a big change. I am way too attached to my vehicles. Now we are a one car family. I thought I would have some difficulty in letting it go and I was right. I really have loved all my cars and I form a close bond. I have been too busy with the Association and going back to work but this weekend was a treat and work weekend. Though I haven't done much inside the house. I started back to work last week. Simon is an alarm clock, not a cat, an alarm clock which goes off whenever it wants not when I need to get up.
