The Great Cheesecake Hunt

May 21, 2008 16:09

I might have mentioned it in the past - I love cheesecake (the desserts and other food albums in facebook, et al consist predominantly of pics of cheesecakes in various places:)). It’s often a toss up between chocolate brownies and cheesecake but while you get brownies nearly anywhere (although of varying quality), cheesecakes are an entirely ( Read more... )

How much would one love cheese cake to be able to write a whole post about it!

A LOT, apparently.

:P.

I forgot to mention the whipped cream swirl on top and the wafer thin slice of wave shaped chocolate:o)

Wow, Kiwi cheesecake - that sounds interesting! The cheesecake and sandwich look wonderful. *drools* Hmmm... your talk of good cheesecake is making me hope the frozen Strawberry cheesecake I bought yesterday (supermarket brand, oops) meets expectations. :O

For your cheesecake versus brownie dilemma, I would like to point to this.http://coconutlime.blogspot.com/2006/09/cheesecake-brownies.html

Ooh yumm...that looks lovely. I did see a brownie cheesecake once at one of the cake places here, but we'd already pigged out on other dessert then. :o

I hope your strawberry cheesecake is nice.

Hee, that sounds suspiciously like me and my friends...!

My previous experience with frozen cheesecakes has been good - convenient and slightly cheaper than getting it from a cafe - so I have high hopes for this. :P Have you tried Oreo cheesecake? That's on my 'to-try' list. And I'm so totally making cheesecake brownies this summer...

I ordered an Oreo cheesecake once, it sounded amazing. But we never got to taste it because the cake didn't rise or some such thing. And then the eating joint in question vanished. It resurfaced a couple of months later elsewhere and I never ended up going to the new location. But now you reminded me of it, must remeber to go over for the cheesecake:)

Don't get supermarket cheesecakes in India afaik:) so cafes and bakeries it remains:) it's usually cheaper than choc truffle, etc anyway:))

This is all working out very well, indeed...my exams just got over today. Now for someone who is rather thick when it comes to locating places in Bangalore- where exactly is this place? Any sort of landmark it's conveniently right next to?

Oh, and what are the prices like?

Sorry about the barrage of questions- I've just been itching to try out a new place for a while now. I've gotten quite sick of Ice-n-Spice. :/

Ask away:) I'm quite sick of Ice-n-Spice too. I've decided the only thing I'll have there is Irish Coffee.

Congratulations on exams getting over! You must go celebrate here:)

Directions - It's on St. Marks' Road in the section between Residency and Museum Road. If you come up St. Marks' Road through Museum Road or the Airlines hotel road then keep an eye out for a small lane after Ice-n-Spice, just before Giovanni. It has a gate at the entrance, and a Citibank ATM inside. If you walk down from the Residency end, then take the turn immediately after Giovanni. Once you enter, you'll see a hotel called Nahar Orchid. It's sandwiched between that and a green building that houses Wipro.

It's a sort of open patio type place, and you won't actually spot it till you near it. But the Citi ATM and a Kerala toursim office are bang oppsoite.

The cheesecakes (all flavours) are 55. Other pastries, pies, cakes range from 40 - 60. sandwiches and pizzas are 90ish to 160ish. French fries sadly are 75... :o

Happy eating:)

Awww..

But Oi! You're in nearly dessert capital of country.:) Hmm...though I don't know about cheesecake. I love the brownies from Cookie Jar there though! they dont have that insane layer of choc glazing that ruins the taste for me. Come to B'lore. Shall feed you cheesecakes everywhere:)

Hmm... I remain torn betwene the two.:) But most places put me off brownies by topping them with choc glazing.

The turn off is a tiny gated one. I think it's the one after Juice Junction if you approach from the Museum Road side. It's the one right before Giovanni with a Citibank ATM in it. If you walk down from the Residency end, then take the turn immediately after Giovanni. Once you enter, you'll see a hotel called Nahar Orchid. It's sandwiched between that and a green building that houses Wipro. Sort of open patio type place, and you won't actually spot it till you near it. But the Citi ATM is bang oppsoite.

I tried the blackcurrant one today and that is also to die for!:)

Err... yes:) The plan is for blueberry tomorrow or well, Monday:) after all, one can't declare it the best cheesecake place until one tastes as many flavours as poss right?:) They have mango, orange and strawberry too, though I'm not too keen on mango.
