I had a serious sweet potato fly explosion. It exploded all but about three swigs. I knew better. I hadn't refrigerated it. I read that that tames the explosions. Not sure if it's true, but I should have at least tried it. Live and learn.

I started my ginger bug. I've got a few days to find the right lemons.

Hooray for ginger beer! I'll tell you that my bug only ever got a little bit foamy. (The book says to let it get really bubbly, so I thought I'd give you a heads-up.) The real key is to wait until it gets a little bubbly and has lots of yeasty silt at the bottom.

I don't know if refrigeration helps tame the explosion. I've tried it with my ginger beer, and it definitely still tried to explode, but, uh, less than before, I think. (But an explosion is still an explosion, no?)

I finally have mace. Now I just have to make the darned fly before my whey goes bad.
