That certainly came as a surprise, but at least it was a nice one and not of the "I forgot to tell you I wanted to break up with you" variety. Valentine's Day, it will forever boggle me why it bothers so many people but I can certainly appreciate this scene and especially its ending. Well done :)

I liked the surprise at the end of this story. I was glad that it was not an unhappy "I want to break up with you" sort of surprise. A proposal is definitely lots nicer than a declaration of wanting to break up (provided the person being proposed to wants a proposal, anyway).

Your story definitely set up a scenario where you expected something bad to happen, so I enjoyed the subversion at the end.
