   It's a long story, so I've provided a link below for those who are unfamiliar. Not to sound like a jerk here, but there is one thing about your post that needs to be corrected Mae. That is Newfoundland made its first major contribution a year earlier in 1915 when they participated in the British landings on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Sulva Bay. They fought side by side with British troops as well as the Australian and New Zealand Corps as they tried to seize control of the Dardanelles Straights from Turkey. The Newfoundlander's served in Gallipoli for 3 months, suffering thirty fatalities and well over a hundred wounded. Eventually the British withdrew and the Newfoundland regiment formed the rear guard of the retreat and were considered to have preformered well during their time in Gallipoli ( ... )

no worries Matt, I actually fully expected you to jump in there with corrections...truth be told we'd be flaberghasted if you didn't. :D. and it's a good point to make that we did fight side by side with our future countrymen.
