Day 9: Why is there snot on my meat?

Oct 09, 2006 20:06

Sunday was a wonderfully sunny day. In the morning, I went with Herr Fritz to church downtown. We went to the main church in Schiller Platz (there is already a picture from it, I think). It was a gorgeous church on both the outside and inside. I understood a lot more of the service than I expected to, although I did not understand the deeper ( Read more... )

I would be a bit weary of homade meat with runny snot--might be because today I have thinking of Ghana "Dog Market"--but more power to you! My host dad in ghana told me that when it would snow(in the US obviously) he would let some air out of the tires and then they would have enough friction and he would ride to school and back. I am not sure I trust that story but it is a nice idea and hes a smart guy so I am waiting for snow to test this little tale out. Come to think of it Spam has some sort of gel on it to. Which is why I never made except that one time...you know THAT time. I just scraped it off it is probably some sort of salt or perserving gel. I don't know, canned/tinned meat just scares me.

Meats in Germany are fairly safe. They pride themselves on their meats. Supposedly you can go to the butcher and by law they have to be able to tell you exactly what kind of meat is in everything, where it came from (the region) and what part of the animal it came from. By home made, this was a mom-and-pop type company that makes and packages their own meats.

Oh I have a question! (and am avoiding doing homework) Is it normal for Germans to be afriad of dogs? All stemming from being attacked by big dogs when they were small children. More so then in America. Or do I just know a lot of wimpy Germans?

Um.... I don't know any that are afraid of dogs. You don't see dogs as often here because most people live in apartments, but they are definately around. I think the Germans you know are just "wimpy"

wonderfully detailed description but i am afraid you might offend some oldsters in our group that enjoyed Spam in their younger years and always found that lovely gel on top of their pork product... :-0

I am jealous of your bakery rolls... the price is right that is for sure!

Love and Kisses,
