It sounds like a WONDERFUL trip! Lots of fun with old friends, lots of adventures, and you learned a lot! Just what the trip should have been. Your journal entries will be a wonderful reminder of the time you had there.
Teaching for Ms MP and your supervisor should be fine! Just pretend they aren't there and teach the way you have been. You are prepared, and have already established a rapport with the kids. Remember... after EVERY lesson EVERY teacher teaches there is always something that goes well and something you would change next time. Lessons never go perfectly so don't stress about trying to make them so.
Can't wait to hear the MSHS/GAP story when you get back!!! I was at an Eagle Court of Honor tonight and met a foreign exchange student from Munich. It was fun for he and I to talk about you :-)
Hope to talk with you sometime soon. Have a GREAT week. Hopefully rested and not too tired from your adventures.

Train bathrooms=scary actually public restrooms in forigen countries=scary which is why when going out avoid drinking liquids at all cases, go before you...go, then go home and drink all 8 glasses at once.

Interesting observation about the teacher in the american culture class. In Ghana I gave a talk on america. At the end of course was Q and A"how do I marry a white man" "can I marry you" "do you expiernce your menses" " are there black people in america" "are there made men in america" "can you teach me us to make something america....like pencils" yes those Q and As are so much fun!

Little kids speaking german are very cute. I love their accents. I have just seen it in movies like Nowhere in Africa but that little girl is so cure I could eat her. I want to raise my kids bi-lingual to with Spanish and English especially if we live in Paraguay. In that case guarani would be included as well. I really love when I see little kids speaking and comprhending more then just one language.

On 7 hour train rides, it is almost impossible to avoid having to use the bathroom. It's also annoying to have to pay to use the bathroom in public places.

Those questions sound very fun :-) Last time I was here the first question I always got was "do you like President Bush", because it was just after he was reelected.

I love that movie, and that girl is sooooooooooooo cute!!!! The only problem with raising my own kids bilingual is if I am in the states, because I am not a native German speaker, so they will not learn it correctly.

Its possiable, I did it in 10 hour tro-tro ride. But I don't have a small bladder so I can tough it out. Who cares about accent as long as they learn vocabulary and grammer and structure then they can pick up the accent when they visit. I have a horriable spanish accent--actually no accent in Spanish, I don't even have the right english accent. But english speakers like when I speak spanish because they can understand it better without the accent! Spanish speakers can understand me as well, unless they are mexican spanish speakers then there are some problems because mexican and paraguayan spanish are very differnt.

Sounds like you're having a great time! What an experience! I love reading your updates. I just bought some Italian books last spring when I was there -- Harry Potter #1-3! FYI -- they are so much cheaper overseas. Each one cost me about $15 in Italy, but here it's around $50 each to special order them.

You have a hard time with goodbyes? I'd never noticed that . . . And we'll laugh just a little 'cause we love you so, and we'll cry just a little when you have to go away . . . : )

I also bought HP 1 at the bookstore, so I want to start reading it and see if it is understandable. I think that would be fun to have!

Hmmmm... yes, maybe a little! And you certainly don't help matters :-)

Hi Chelsea--sounds like a great experience anonymous November 8 2006, 01:51:27 UTC
It sounds like you are having a great time. I hope that the teaching is going well. I realize that you are not having the normal Whitworth experience, but it does sound like you learning a lot of German culture (Harry Potter in German and doing some interesting people watching on the train. Hmm. Is interesting the right word? :) )

I would like to hear more about the students and the teachers. Anything interesting for my 401 class?
Take care
