confusion and suprise

So, this morning I got a text message. It read "Hi Chelsea, what's your plan for today? Are you currently in Stuttgart? If yes, what do you think about the idea that we meet each other at 12 noon at Hauptbahnhof?". As K and I agreed to call each other today to figure out plans, I assumed it was her, and so replied, yes, and made sure to be at ( Read more... )

Maybe it was Koeniginscholssstrasse? Stranger street names have been presented. Like Burgermeisterpfannkuchestrasse in Verden.

Koenigsplatz is in central Munich. If you haven't been, you should go before you come home. The museums there are really cool. Look for the Stadtsmuseum (Greek and Roman statuary) and the Glypotek (Greek terracotta, etc.), which are the two collumned buildings across from each other in the platz. Or if you want, there's the Lenbachhaus in the northeast corner, which is all modern art. When you're done with those, go to the Alte, Neue, and Überneue Pinakoteks. And have lunch at the HBH. =^_^=

The street name thing was a joke between Andre and I.. I'm probably not making it to Munich this trip. It will just have to go on the list for next time. There's still just too much to do!

I kinda caught on. But I just had to add to it. German street names aren't very helpful.

No, they really aren't! Especially when they disappear and then show up somewhere else, or twist around this corner or that. Sometimes they are driving streets, and sometimes just narrow ally looking pathways... so much confusion!!!

Hey, German street names ARE helpful. At least, they are creative ... not only numbered from 1st to 96th street O:-) And .... actually .... it was Schlossstrasse, Chelsea, wasn't it ;-)

Andre, there are far too many 's's in that word for it to be a real word. Obviously it's not true ;-)

Besides, having the streets numbered really helps with directionally challenged people. And we have some creative street names. In Spokane, there is a section where all the streets are names of trees. And in another, there is an entire neighborhood done with Civil War themed names.

You should have told Andre the names of some of the streets around Shiloh (Antietam, Stonewall, Blue Coat and others) and seen if he could guess the category. Actually if you think about it Seattle has to win it for least creative and made for directionally challenged people with names that are just a series of numbers and directions like 1001548 N 156th SW... they almost could just go with GPS readings.

(That's the neighborhood I was implying when I said "there is an entire neighborhood done with Civil War themed names")

I agree with the statement about Seattle!
