Bloody hell :/

Is there a local community council or something that you can get involved in? Residents power - demand more police or something?

I was just thinking the same myself, we need some kind of community action. There are two (privately owned) blocks of student residences further up the street now, so perhaps they might help increase the "people power" of the neighbourhood. Dove street (where Greg used to live) have a good community group but they are about 5 minutes walk from here. Think we need something more local. Given that the hostel is sealed off this morning too, I suspect one or more of the residents was involved!

I wonder if you can talk to someone from Dove Street, see how it works there and if you can set something where you are? I'll ask Derek if he has any advice (as he's involved in his local community council). There might be a website or something with advice....

Cheers. We kind of sit in the area between Dove street and the St Paul's community action group, and I'm not sure if we really belong to either. I don't think there is a great many residents on the street and most have tended to be renters so perhaps a bit less concerned/less sense of ownership of the area. Guess it might change a bit with the influx of students (tending to be more radical than the average population). Bit concerned that they might bring more crime into the area though as they might be seen as easy targets!
