Well, now that I'm once again at my parents' house in Michigan, I have time for another update!

The month between Thanksgiving and Christmas has been unimaginably busy... I have worked every weekend at Starbucks, mainly due to holiday business.  It's been really fun, but tiring.  On weekends between working, we did a lot of Christmas shopping, EPCOT ( Read more... )

Wedding Stuff Done Lately:

- Scheduled engagement sitting.  If the weather is good, I'll add an outdoor sitting.  If the weather is iffy, my sister or dad will take outdoor pictures when the weather gets good.  If the weather is bad, Mike will just have to wait until another time to have pictures of us in the snow.

 I'm not dead, I swear, just busy!  I had a bout of the stomach flu on October that knocked me off my feet for a few days, and cheerleading has been keeping my very active.  I've also, of course, been working at Starbucks on weekend and agreed to tutor a group of 6th graders in reading on Monday mornings, so I've been spending time on that.  Whew ( Read more... )

 Hurrah!  Mike and I are going to EPCOT today!  After spending every free minute of the last month teacher-ing, barisita-ing on the weekends, organizing the apartment, helping Mike move, coaching, and working on wedding stuff, it's nice to have a day OFF to do whatever we want.

Illness:  I think what I had was sinus-related, but it cleared up when I was in Wisconsin, thank goodness.  The plane ride with a head cold was not so good.

 I'm home sick and am being told to take tomorrow off, too.  I got sick on Friday but had to work all three days at Starbucks, which is why I'm having to stay home from my actual job.  I'm kind of annoyed that I couldn't get anyone to take my shifts at Starbucks, because it's interfering with teaching.  I also can't get anyone to take my Sunday ( Read more... )

I found out today that I qualified for a STAR bonus from the state.  This is Florida's merit/incentive pay for teachers system and it's almost entirely based on learning gains and a little bit on performance evaluations.  (See link)  This means that I am in the top 25% of teachers at my middle school, in the sense that my students made the most ( Read more... )
