Day 4
I got to take the bulky bandages off yesterday, and see what had actally happened. In addition to the three small holes, front, outer top, and back, there is also a 2 inch or so long incision. The steristrips are all still in place so I'm not 100% sure on the length. I've got apage and a half of surgical photos which I'm to bring to the Friday ( Read more... ) -
Post-Op Day 2
Damn, but I want to stretch my left arm. At least I came to in a sling and not an immobilizer so recovery should be quicker. I've found that ibuprofen works quite well on the pain, which is more ache and sore and stiff than pain, though I did add half a percocet last night so I could sleep. Surgery! (Yay. I think.)
June 4th. This should be quite enough time that I can drive by the time school starts at the end of August. Here's hoping this recovery is more like my wrist and second knee surgery than the first one. I have my pre-op appointment on the 13th to sign the papers and get my doctor to explain exactly what she thinks she'll be doing in there, ( Read more... ) -

Still no work.
I'm seriously thinking of showing up at my old employer's HR department and asking if they remember telling me how easy I would find it to get another job. Ha. From talking with others in the area, it does seem that a lot of those whose jobs weren't eliminated have been getting while the getting is good ( Read more... ) -

Within the last week I've watched or read two things discussing the idea of alternate universes, multiverses, whatever. Bad news and its silver lining.
The bad news. I got downsized on Thursday morning. I've known that my job was not secure, but all the librarians in the new multihospital group figured we had a bit of time, and we were making our case for why they needed more than two or three librarians for 5 hospitals, three of them teaching.
