I wish more articles were written in this style.

I think the difference between art and entertainment is entirely in the eye of the beholder. Anything that stimulates a critical response is art, otherwise it is escapist entertainment. I am off to Santa Barbara for my summer school. I will be there for 12 days learning everything about using density functional theory to model materials. I have half of the day off on Saturday and all day Sunday.  I think I will play some disk golf and hang out on the beach to pass the time.

A recent article on the Times talks about the "Brain Drain" occurring in the Republican party. It's actually quite interesting. It is talking about an essay written by Judge Posner who was appointed by Reagan to the federal appeals court.

I have a great opportunity to work at a national lab next year. I might be at Oak Ridge National Lab working on the largest supercomputer in the world. It's pretty exciting to think about because it is great for my career. I will be working with really good people at the cutting edge of the field in theory, computation, and experiment. I have an idea to save the newspapers. New fonts are to be developed to replace times new roman, courier, etc. These fonts are actually models twisting their bodies into the shapes of letters. We increase the font size to 25 pts or so and give it a whirl. There can be two versions of the paper, one a womens version and one a mens version. Same ( Read more... )
