How I Spent The Blizzard

Feb 03, 2011 18:03

My absence from here these last few days has a pretty decent excuse ... I was at the hospital with Cole. If you aren't my friend on fb or twitter then you had no idea, because I basically used those sites to communicate with everyone what was going on. When Sam stopped by our hospital room Tuesday night right before the "blizzard" I asked him to ( Read more... )

Yeah, he went through a difficult time, but I'm so glad he's coming around. It's nice to see him smile again.

I'm glad to here that Cole is doing better, poor thing. I can sympathize with you about his mood in the hospital. Paige would be the same exact way if it were her.

Also, Ive been driving for ten years and I still get nervous about driving to places I am not familiar with, but then again people in Tampa can't drive.

I think the majority of bad drivers are in the south. You get a lot of elderly (which is what remember from attending college in Clearwater) and they are just awful. I know one day I will be there, but I can't help, but feel anger towards them. They cause so many accidents and just drive awful.

Aw, poor Cole :( And poor you!! I'm sorry you had such a rotten experience :( This sounds a lot like my experience at Mercy here in Monroe a few years back when my cousin was admitted--her fever was so high she was delirious and kept being ignored :\ I had to cause a disturbance just to get them to check her temp (I was afraid of it going high enough to cause brain damage) while I waited (and waited and waited and waited) for them to give her something to bring it down :\ She was seventeen at the time and because she was still a few months shy of eighteen, they would give her NOTHING until a doc signed off on it. I understand the whole accountability thing but why does it take six freaking hours to get a doc to okay some tylenol for a raging fever? ARG. Really made me miss the children's hospital in Austin--when I had to take Sterling in, they were always fantastic and on top of things. Hmmmm...ranty rambling over now, I think ( ... )

See I was so clueless when I went. I'd only ever been during my pregnancies to give birth and it seemed okay then. The only thing I can guess it that we were on the bottom of the totem pole of severity and therefore not a priority.

That story about your friend is just awful. If there had been brain damage than I can assume she would of had a lawsuit on her hands.

I was curious to know what your updates were about. I couldn't put the pieces together because I haven't been online that much for the past couple of days (work, snowstorms, etc). I finally figured out today that it was Cole that was in the hospital.

I hate going to the hospital for anything. It's always a ridiculous runaround. I'm just happy to hear that you have an answer as to why he was sick and you have the meds for it. Hopefully, that will work and you'll only need to see the pediatrician from now on.

I had no idea it was going to be such a runaround. I'm pretty naive when it comes to what to expect at a hospital. I tell yo what if someone suggest going to a hospital again I will fight it. She could have done a strep test there. I think his doctor overrated.

Uhhh yeah. It's not that hard to take a swab of someone's mouth. Oi!

I hate hospitals. The last one I was in was because of a car accident in 2005 and I just needed to get checked out for whiplash (which I didn't have...just strained muscles). i was strapped to a backboard for two hours and they reluctantly took me off of it (after my mother went to yell at someone because I was in more pain on that board). Then I laid flat on my back for another four hours and I had to fight to be able to go to the bathroom. They offered me a BEDPAN when the bathroom was right next to me. Nevermind, I was kept in a hallway next to a shelf full of linens...every time someone needed a towel they would roll me out of the way.

I was in complete rage by the time I was told I could go home. ARGH! I'm all aggro just thinking about it. lol
