Well I already screamed RESIDENT EVIL at you already. >D The whole series is amazing and awesome.

The Lunar games are pretty good for RPGs, as is Star Ocean 2. Also MONSTER RANCHER. Those games are always fun to pick up whenever, I'd rec 3 in particular. Final Fantasy 8 is awesome. Legend of Dragoon is another game I loved and need to replay sometime. Download an SNES and a Genesis emulator and download Secret of the Stars And Super Mario RPG zomg for SNES, and Phantasy Star IV and Shining Force II for the Genesis.

But mostly yes RESIDENT EVIL!!

Yup, I've been looking for 3! Actually I was at Gamestop yesterday and they had 2 AND 4 but not 3. D:

Hmm, Dan has a Star Ocean game, I think it's 3. I had FFVIII a looong time ago but I never got more than like an hour into it. XD I'd need a memory card for that one.

Thanks for all the suggestions! 8D

Uhohohoooo.

Ar Tonelico (I think it just got a reprint for 15 bucks?) is AWESOME, Baten Kaitos is seriously gorgeous and tons of fun, Okami is not turn-based but GET IT ANYWAY, anything by Nippon Ichi, and uhhhm... Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. ... Well, I absolutely adored it.

Also BAROQUE is totally sexy, though hardcore dungeon-crawler.

I AM VOTING FOR SUIKODEN (any and all, but V is probably easiest to find right now~~) PSX/PS2, turned based RPG :D

OHOHOHO. MY EXPERTISE, LET ME SHOW YOU IT. I will, as per your orders, stick to strictly turn-based games and also games that are still somewhat easy to get a hold of (in this situation 'easy to get a hold of' means 'can buy directly from Amazon.' If you want suggestions for games that are able to be bought used on Amazon, let me know and I'll do a list for that, too)

PS2
SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI: PERSONA 3: FES
SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI: DIGITAL DEVIL SAGA 1 & 2 (This may seem to contradict my second clause of 'easy to get' but DDS 1 was just recently reprinted so should be showing up places soon, and DDS2 is likely to follow)
SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI: NOCTURNE
FINAL FANTASY XII (it operates on an ATB system, like FFX-2 only the encounters are all on the field instead of a separate screen)
DRAGON QUEST VIII
SHADOW HEARTS: FROM THE NEW WORLD (All of the Shadow Hearts games are worth getting, but the first one and the second one [Shadow Hearts: Covenant] can be a bit harder to find/you have to buy used. Also, as a warning, despite being 100% turn based ( ... )

...I don't see how an emulator for GBA games is necessary if she owns a DS.

Eh. It can save her some money, and GBA games can be pretty hard to find nowadays. At least, where I am they are.

You know, I keep hearing about DDS, but the thing is I. Uhh. I have a somewhat irrational fear of anything involving cannibalism, so. XDDD Is it that bad in terms of eating people?

I'd say it's worth tracking down a PSX memory card just because the backlog of RPGs on that console is so great and emulating is an enormous pain in the ass. TO THAT END I HOOKER OUT FINAL FANTASY IX, STRANGELY ENOUGH. It's still readily available and cheap cheap cheap. Breath of Fire III and IV are also good (and I&II are on the GBA and therefore playable on the DS, as well. I am fond of them but be warned that the encounter rate in BoFII is stupidly high).

- For the Gamecube, SKIES OF ARCADIA LEGENDS. Oldskool-style turn-based RPG with SKY PIRATES and the best weapon EVER: the TUNA CUTLASS. I would be remiss not to mention Tales of Symphonia, as well ( ... )
