we've had cats for years, and we get flea problems periodically. it just happens. fleas are attracted to cats. we've used frontline on a monthly basis for a long time, if your cats are indoor, you likely won't need to after you get the apartment free of 'em. and spuddy's probably right, that they had the eggs on 'em when you got 'em. don't put flea collars on them, that's awful. your other option from using frontline is to fleabathe them once a month, which we used to do way back when...
The fleas did not come from you. You did not birth them. You did not create them out of play-doh and they magically came to life. You did not send out an invitation to the flea community saying free lunch. It's about the same to say you gave them fleas as you gave Alex the bacteria or whatever that got him sick. It just happens that you can see the fleas and not the bacteria, that's all. Don't worry, the kitties will be just fine :)

And she's right - it happened, because these things do, but it did not happen because you failed your kittens in some way.
