OK, so apparently I've lost what little common sense I had left, because even though I'm no less busy than usual, I've decided to take part in National Novel Writing Month: http://www.nanowrimo.org/Read more... )
The minute i read that you were written this month i thought , oh no! what about guitar hero and the wii? right now guitar hero 2 is kicking major ass on the tv in the living room and emily is shredding some awesome jams. the little things on the new game (new graphics and what not) really click and make this update an awesome game. the wii is here on the 19th and as long as the eb games near me gets 1, I get a wii (I camped out for a few hours before it opened to make sure I got one). it is going to be so awesome. I really toyed with participating in the november novel test but i just could not get rolling with anything and then my job that had been so slow in october really ramped up this month. good luck with your novel, i hope you make the 50,000.
Thanks for the encouragement, man! Yeah, it's going to take some willpower, but I'm going to try to keep my gaming in check. That's not to say I won't use gaming breaks as little rewards along the way ("only 450 more words until Cherry Pie!").
i did try it! got 20,000 words in.. hated the direction it was going, and instead of going forward anyways, i committed the cardinal sin of NaNoWriMo: i... STARTED OVER (screams sound from the NaNo forums) so, yeah, needless to say, that was a bad plan. i havent had the gusto to try and salvage that story. it will be buried in the depths of my computer forever.
Yeah, it's funny that they say one of the biggest potential problems is actually liking what you write too much. If you come up with some ideas you really love, you may not be inclined to "waste" them on this frivolous little project. Likewise, you may get too stuck trying to perfect one section of your story that you're really into. My plan is to only write stuff I hate.
