I just got back from seeing Vampire Weekend play. It was a very short concert, because they only have one album's worth of material, but it was a nice, concentrated burst of awesome. They're a really tight live band, and their drummer is amazing. Is it just me, or does anybody else hear a Paul Simon vibe in some of their songs?

OK, so I think I'm officially a Jonathan Coulton groupie now. I went to his concert in Madison, Wisconsin on Friday night and then saw him again in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday night. Last week we went to see the Lion King stage musical. It's quite a stunning production, although it does have a few flaws. The filler material they added was uniformly weak, unlike the Beauty and the Beast musical, where the new songs were pretty much up to par with the ones from the film.
