Hey, sorry to spy, but saw you in the buffalo dorks LJ. Do you know any good websites to find vegan recipes. I tried doing a general yahoo search and got those spammy 'buy now' websites.
I watched supersize me and an interview with the guy who wrote fast food nation and I am serioouusssly considering changing my uneducated food choices. ugh..
hey! that's awesome. I'm glad you are considering making a change! You should check out the end of the movie Corporation too. There's a lot of information on the scandals with the horomones in milk, yadda yadda yadda.
Anyway, some fantastic recipe resources are:
vegancooking is livejournal all about well...vegan cooking, if you go to the page, and click in the right hand corner there are hundreds upon hundreds of recipes. And it's fantastic to have a resource that actual people have used, and have commented on, and sometimes there are even pictures!!
VegWeb is another fantastic resource. There's thousands of recipes that are all amazing (from my experience). They also have comments and ratings, so you can find out how great they are/bad they are before making them.
vegan chefis a pretty good resource too. Not as many recipes, but the soups are great, and it's a little bit more upscale type food.
Veg Cookingis another pretty great one, that has a lot of recipes and most of them are for begginer veg/vegans, and they are pretty easy

thanks!!! Ps, the pot pie looks awesome, although i dont think i like tofu... perhaps some more vegetables for me :-)
I'll definately check out Corporation (i'm netflixing it right now) and those websites. I made vegan chili last night and have leftovers today. Its awesome to know that i can eat and not have any animal whatsoever involved in the making of it.
hahaha, tofu is definately something that needs to be cooked right to be enjoyed. I'm still iffy with it, and I have a hard time eating it if I don't cook it myself (or at a chinese place/very veg friendly restaurant

hey amy... Im not sure why we arent friends on here.. but Id like to know a bit of whats going on in your life.. and if you feel the same you should add me back....
I want to make a pink cake for my birthday.. my mother broke her ankle and Ive been baking things lately.. (getting into baking things) and I'm probably the only one who will make a cake..
I could use food coloring.. but I kinda want a different taste than white cake with just a pink color... do you have any tips or suggestions? and anything to make it look real special.. Im having some people over and I want them to be like wowowwwwwwza!
when you add the liquid part of the recipe (whether it is soymilk, or oil, or whatever the recipe is calling for), mix 5-6 TBS of strawberry syrup (like the nestle's stuff) with it, and 2 drops of red food coloring. To make up for the extra sugar and liquid, add 3 TBS of flour to the recipe.
i was asking a friend of mine for a really good chocolate cupcake recipe.. she referred me to you, is there one specific recipe that is the best for chocolate cupcakes that you use? thanks so much!
honestly, I haven't yet found a chocolate cupcake recipe that I am really happy with. They are either too dense or too moist. However, I''ve discovered that taking your favorite brownie recipe, and adding 1/4 of soymilk makes them turn into cupcakes. They end up a little bit dense, but they are very very good. I would also recomend going easy on frosting when doing that.
