Oh my god, I have spent all today looking at art by artists who are SO great at what they do. Mostly comic strip artists. How the FUCK do they get so good at drawing??? I really don't think I can learn what they do by taking a course. I think I'm at the point where I have to start teaching myself. And practicing even MORE ( Read more... )

Well, I didn't know this EITHER until I read the comic... *blushes*

but in the footnotes for the next comic, the artist explains, "Bork is the sound Swedes make when they have anal. I should probably clarify that Tina isn’t actually crying out “Bork bork bork”. It’s more of a replacement for “hump hump hump”…"

I find it hilarious and awesome that in the Swedish language, there are different onomatopoeia for different types of sex!

Also... isn't "bork bork bork" what the Swedish chef used to say on the Muppet show? :O

hmmm. not so much impressed. ive seen hands like that before, i guess. accurate certainly, and a good loose style, but a bit too flat (or hinted three dimensions) for my liking ( ... )

yeah, flash has advanced since the last version. im on flash 8, but theres a new one 9 in cs3 (both new versions part of the big adobe package monopoly)
its not ideal for drawing; im not recommending it over drawing, its time consuming... but its certainly clean and smooth.

pfb didnt end, a new one went up last week!
havent heard of your comics recommends, thanks.

also, i really suspect this is drawn with a vector based program like flash. flash has this 'autocurve' function that straitens or smooths your lines (drawn with a tablet is best) but if you know what to look for, the way it curves and makes corners looks pretty signature.... plus, the weight of the line its all...within a very small degree of thickness, even though it does vary. not to say it isnt effective, or emotive, but punishing yourself for not creating computer smoothed lines is silly.
