it's actually a kinda hard concept to grasp. I still struggle with it after years of contemplation, if only b/c new facets of it often times seem to occur to me or get pointed out to me by something I might read or hear or whatever. Here's a small passage from an essay I recently read that I thought explained some things really well. In addition to this it's interesting to note that Agape = spiritual Love was the word of the previous Aeon, while Thelema = Will is the word of the current one (at least thought so by most thelemites) so you see

First off I just want to say that I'm catching up on your journal so that's why you may be seeing a few comments at once! :D Next, I loved the haiku...it is SOOOOOOOOOO you. lol.
Finally, I've never studied this at all...I mean I've read some of the basic tenents of A.C. & others both in the same and outside of this philosophy, process, what have you...but I have in no means delved into any of them. Simply familiarized myself with I guess. ANYWAY...when I was reading your response (yes I'm nozing in on your conversations with others too), to the girl on this article..I was thinking in exactly the terms described from the following excerpt of your article:
The idea is such that individuals become empowered to unite in love with the entire universe of conscious beings. This means that when an individual follows her True Will and interacts with the True Will of another, then their love for one another will lead them to collaborate. Thus, it produces a magickal child or by product of joint geniusI mean my thoughts weren't word for word

Love is the Law - like the beatles said "love is all you need" Love under Will - love who you want, when you want...
So yeah, just have love in your hearft at all time (like be surrounded by it, the light, the energy, etc... And use your noggin to determine when/where/who/what you direct that love at...

hehe, yeah.. much more complex than the basic wiccan philosophy (which usually a perversion of Gardienien Wicca, whom was actually a student of Crowley and pretty much just dumbed down the G.D. philosophy and put it in Celtic pagan context)
another way to think about love under will, is one's love is purified through Will...

Actually if memory serves, Gardner and Crowley worked on their own thing at their own time, yet together in a group with a few others... Neither one came before the other, both had different takes on the same research/findings... It's been awhile, and my research comes largely from Buckland (disciple of Gardner), and Adler... So please, correct me if I'm wrong, but do show sources... Cuz it's always been my take that a handful of gnostics were discovering mysticism and magic(k) at the same time... None more dominant than the other in that circle...

from what i understand Buckland and other disciples tried to remove themselves as far away from Crowley as possible as he was rather infamous at the time.
you can find references to Gardner being a member of the OTO which Crowley was head of at the time in many different places, but here is one source.

the last section talks about Gardner.
If I run across any other sources I'll give you links as well. I don't feel like hunting for them at the moment.
