IMO, women's bodies are designed to have babies and by using meds we interfere with whe most natural thing in the world. That would be like trying to change with the way a flower blooms, or the way a wave hits the shore.
That's kinda what I was getting at with the girl in the pregnant community. My daughter was born in a hospital, but all natural, and the doctor was willing to let me choose a position (my body, however, was ready to deliver in a recliner, and so that's where I delivered).
We're 17 weeks pregnant now and going with a homebirth.
I would like to go with a homebirth next time, but I don't think I will be able to keep CNM that was with me this time. I was leaning toward a homebirth for my daughter, but she was my husband's first and the idea made him really nervous. But he was supportive of going with CNMs rather than OBs.
She said that we needed to go ahead and get Lydia out as soon as possible anyway, and the quickest way to do that would be for me to get up on my knees and put my arms over the back of the bed (which was raised).
That's instinctively what I wanted to do when I was having back labor, but I was stuck in a stupid hospital that didn't like position changes. Grr.
That's an awesome story! Thanks for sharing. I don't mind the tmi, most people don't get so discriptive. It's hard to imagine if you've never gone through it. I would like to not be surprised if and when I find myself in that situation.
That is great story. You know I think it is amazing that when we have our children, we think "oh, yeah its painful" but yet we forget the actual pain and the fine details of what you go thru in labor- natural birth of course- Natural birthing is a wonderful experience and the way its ment to be!!!

I am a big believer in natural birth, too. Easier on baby and mom, I think.
How sweet of Tim to braid your hair. You have a keeper there.
Love ya
