I think there are both! There's a dodgy Chinatown bus that's supercheap, as I understand it.

is it really worth it to join the Williams Club? I've been thinking about doing it, but wasn't sure if I'd get hooked into paying for something, or if they even had anything that's free to get in once you are a member.

I figure it's free for the first year, so I can't lose anything by joining. At the end of the year, they'll send me brochures and stuff and ask if I want to keep the membership (at approximately $100/year, probably not yet). But if I do decide to keep it, then I won't have had to pay the initial fee to join.

The Williams Club membership person emailed me and told me that there's an automatic renewal on June 1st of every year, and it is mandatory to keep your membership for a minimum of one year from the exact sign up date. So...does that mean we would be charged on June 1st of next year and have no say in the matter until at least the day we signed up this year?? cuz if that's how it works, that sucks, and I'm not doing it.

You should do some of the stuff in the NYTimes article about Koreans in NYC. :-) That sounded like a lot of fun. I see Raba beat me to commenting, so I won't repeat the thought. ;-)
