Descartes' Meditations, except not.

Feb 02, 2006 16:07

I've been reading, and reading, then re-reading Descartes' Meditations for class this past week. I took the test today, and I'm sure I did fine. SO, with all respect to Descartes, this is my version of what he said in less than one page ( Read more... )

Descartes might say that is technically impossible, since in Meditation 7 (which I only skimmed) I think he proves that the nose doesn't exist, lol.

so how is the music scene treating you these days? Ever consider playing a tour stop in knoxville?

assuming knoxville were to magically gain some content of substance (via Descartes second meditation) I would recommend

http://www.barleystaproom.com/knoxville/ (they had one in asheville, too)

http://www.cornerlounge.com/

http://www.patricksullivans.com/

for starters. We're trying to get on at the first two right now. However, you have the credentials to get in at patrick's. and of course, if you should need an opening band, dot, dot, dot... ;-) I've got a list somewhere of booking contacts for knoxville, most of them are up to date I think, let me know if you want a copy.

btw, I'd love to send you a copy of our demo-in-the-making, do you have a po box etc I could flip a copy to? if so, postmoderntourists@yahoo.com
later,

My take on all of this:

1 - possible according to the tenets of L'Academie
2 - nay
3 - only his hairdresser knows for sure
4 - nay (too funny)
5 - see 3 - SN: God "having" to do anything goes against the principle of God being omnipotent?
6 - aren't we all?

Sorry, I don't usually engage in religious debates, but I couldn't help myself tonite. I'm on my second bottle of wine tonite and you know how I get. I, too, apologize to all of the genuine philosophers out there. Go ahead and be as pretty as you please.

I'm a "delayed" student, if one will. I took 6 years between high school and now to work work work. But now I'm on track to finish my sociology and philosophy BAs in May, then graduate school in the fall (in sociology, critical theory).

That's a mouthful, lol. Did you have a particular focus in philosophy? My focus was accidental, a minor turned into a second major (to prop up the other major).

You just graduated. Bells and whistles forthcoming. Accidental focus is key. Let reality run as a background program. YT>>>>>>>
