classic prisoners dilema from game theory

Did student B offer to take the fail for the guilty student? did student A confess to copying from B? or from someone else? Was student B aware that student AS was copying? If so student B is culpable, flunk both...

Student B did take the fail for the guilty student. Student A did confess to copying from B. Student B was not aware that Student A was copying. Student B is culpable, but student A is willing to take the fall for Student A. I think there's more going on than they're willing to admit. I have a feeling they worked together and this is their way of at least one of them getting away with it. Just a suspicion. I did tell them, however, to work it out between them and let me know how they want to handle it. It would be hard for me to flunk both now after saying that, wouldn't it?

not at all.. If they do not come out to an honest answer after you gave them time to discuss it, simply say you gave them a change to ethically redeem themselves, and as a consequence of being less than truthful they both flunk.
