My new project is writing a children's book for grades 3-5. It is a picture book that tells a story of a young boy who confronts his fears of public speaking after being given a speech assignment in school. The text is already completed; now I just have to find a publisher.

The falling tree saga wasn't over on Thursday. On friday, the same idiots dropped three more trees on my fence while I was at school. We called the police. We got them on criminal trespassing for coming over the fence to clear the tree debris without permission, and might have to file a civil suit and injunction against them so they don't do this ( Read more... )

So I came home today and my shed outside had been disassembled, laid out on the ground, and all my stuff from my shed still sitting in its place, but out in the open. Apparently, the guy behind us was having a company remove a tree and one of their ropes broke and the tree top fell on top of our $600 shed, which also ruined 10 feet of my chain link ( Read more... )

Can't wait for our camping trip together on our birthday. Can't believe we share the same birthday!! I now have two people on my friend's list who share the same birthdate with me. How odd, but cool!

Have a meet with A's boss on Monday. He's finally decided to pay someone to design the company website after purchasing the domain name five years ago, and paying $40/yr to keep it active. I'm $1000 richer and army-wiser. The workshop went very well, and had great responses on the evaluation sheets for the workshop. The MAJ in charge mentioned to me later that they might want to do this on a quarterly basis!! That would mean big bucks. I guess I'll just wait and see, but it looks positive. Well, the all-day workshop at Ft. Bragg has been confirmed, and they even agreed to my $1000 fee. So I'll be mingling with the Army intellectuals on Monday, and trying to teach them something new about public speaking. My book has arrived. :) I saw it in the university bookstore today and then I got my free personal copies in the mail shortly after I arrived home from school. It looks great. A few years ago, I published a speech that I ghost-wrote for a paying consultee who delivered that speech as a keynoter at a national convention. How do I cite that publication in my CV? His name is on the publication since I wrote it for him under a "work-for-hire" agreement, but I still want to add it into my CV as my publication.

Crap. My book won't be out until after X-mas. I guess it'll have to be a belated gift.

Just came back from my convention in San Antonio. Took the whole fam with me this time. It was a lot of fun. The Riverwalk was very cool. I've seen it before, but not A. or K. I got to push my book at the book exhibition hall a bit, which was keen! :)
