oy I feel for you then. I suspect that my advisors are going to push me for a quick exit. It is not that they dislike me, it is that they are already pushing me (started second semester of school) towards the right kind of clarity. It is kind of necessary, given the somewhat odd nature of my work.

I started working on my dissertation the moment I entered the program and had it finished when I left, or at least a draft. Just because they are pushing you on the diss, doesn't mean they are pushing you to finish "early." There is a difference. They likely just want you not to get backed up on it, and then end up taking 8 years to finish like some of my former colleagues. Although it is true that the best dissertation is a done dissertation, you have to remember that it will carry you for the first 10 years of your academic career. Make is a good one, not a fast one! :) If they are pushing you to finish early, don't be so quick to acquiesce.

Dang. Guess you don't need my tip on where to get a whole mess load of oak for cheap. 'Cause free beats cheap, after all. Which is why I ain't buying the oak, actually. Not my trees, but we had a major blow down a little while back, and all my neighbors stacked tons of beautiful hardwood at the roadside for me. Cool!
