I am baffled by this guy as well, half of the videos I see shows him as a pretty thoughtful, decent guy, but the clips on the news show him as a raving lunatic.

For a Christian, I think he's pretty awesome. "Hateful" is not a word I would use to describe him. Dude's pissed off for some very legit reasons. The fact that he's been railroaded as a "black racist" has nothing to do with the nuances of his actual positions and everything to do with white America's terror of any critical appraisal of U.S. policy from others and any discussion of race whatsoever.

Not that I'm personally invested in the question, but I'd take Wright over Rod Parsley or John Hagee any day of the week.

Ha, TD Jakes is the man and could take Right down any day. Hagee just scares me.

Dude, my friend used to wait tables at this high powered steak house in D.C. where lobbyists ply politicians with fancy dinners. He said T.D. Jakes brought in a posse whose bill came to five grand.

The man has got style and can throw a party! What can I say. Also, T.D. Jakes is huge. It wouldn't surprise me if he ate $5k worth of steak at a ritzy D.C. steakhouse.

I don't really know enough about the man to have much of an opinion, but, it's usually unwise to use sound bytes, secondhand information, and the press as a basis for any credible information, much less character judgement or knowledge concerning a person and what they believe.

Concerning his response to the moderator, considering the circumstance, does his statement not clearly convey what he is trying to say? Obviously "people" don't hear "nice" responses. We all know that.

I've read that Wright the Person and Wright the Preacher are two different people, and that makes a certain sort of sense. What ever one's personal views are on worship, I doubt you are going to find a spiritual leader argue that there isn't any kind of performance-based zazz incorpoated into sermons to engage the congregation.

I just... can't figure out how you could do such a good job on PBS and then turn around and make a complete spectacle of yourself a few days later at the National Press Club. Surely it's not famewhoring? I really can't think of any possible motives for it without putting on a tinfoil hat.
