Umbrellas. This was actually supposed to be my official remix (I ended up with three remixes 8D), but it ended up being too short and didn't go ANYWHERE, so I scrapped it. Was supposed to be remixed using Rihanna's 'Umbrella' since Luna used 'Ai Ai Gasa' for the original, but I can't tell if it worked or not... Derp. EDIT: OMG WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME I WAS SPELLING HOKUTO'S LAST NAME WRONG, OMG FAIL. T___T
Things like ‘forever’, Hokuto decided, were supremely complicated.
The bus stop felt like an eternity away, which was mostly a comfort, though it also strayed to the wrong side of terrifying.
His heart was doing all sorts of acrobatics that would have impressed Tsukada-kun, but Hokuto just wanted to know how it managed to do that while still pumping plenty of blood to his cheeks. It’s just a walk, he scolded himself. In the rain. With his arm around you. No need to act so stupid.
For what it was worth, Kento didn’t seem to notice anything unusual, just smiling that smile while pulling Hokuto a little more under the umbrella.
The rain fell around them, washing away the streets and the world beyond. In their own little bubble, under the umbrella, Hokuto was starting to believe in the forever-ness. If the rain kept on splashing around them like this, they could just keep on walking, walking, walking, safe from the rain, with Kento’s arm firmly around his shoulders.
A keychain jangled on his bag and he glanced down, clutching it a little closer to himself. He didn’t want it to get wet.
~
“What’s this?” Hokuto asked shyly, staring down at the small keychain that Kento had just deposited on his lap.
Kento grinned and Hokuto decided the room was far too warm than it had any right to be. “I was hanging out with some friends and saw it. Thought you’d like it, ne~.”
“Heeeey, how come you bought him something and not me?” Fuma demanded, ambling over and jabbing at Kento’s side. Hokuto felt his cheeks warm as he watched the ensuing wrestling match. When Kento had finally pinned Fuma down, triumphantly noogie-ing his hair into oblivion, Hokuto smiled shyly. “Thanks.”
“N’aw,” Kento playfully toed at one of Hokuto’s knees. “Don’t look so flustered, Hoku~to. We’re friends, aren’t we?”
Friends.
Hokuto hadn’t thought of it before. He still felt so new and Misaki had only just left B.I. Shadow. “I guess so…”
Kento snorted and slung himself down next to Hokuto. “You don’t sound so sure, dearest Matsumura-kun.”
Ducking his head, Hokuto just mumbled wordlessly under his breath. It wasn’t that Kento wasn’t friendly, it wasn’t that Hokuto didn’t like being around him, didn’t like Kento himself… Well, he wasn’t sure what it was. Something that made him hesitate at the question.
He just wasn’t quite sure what that was.
“Hey, hey~,” Kento said, sounding surprisingly gentle. “Don’t frown like that, you’ll get all wrinkly.” The other boy patted Hokuto’s knee before scrambling off in search of Koichi.
Hokuto watched him leave, a tentative smile on his lips.
Friends or not, Kento did always manage to make things light up. Rubbing his fingers over the keychain, he attached it to his bag, wanting it somewhere he’d always see it. He wanted the reminder.
~
Take your time, Kento had told him, but Hokuto was starting to wonder if maybe he’d already taken far too much time.
The rain created a strange, chanting lullaby around them as they walked, protected from getting soaked by the water-proof nylon of Kento’s umbrella.
Hokuto could just turn his head a little bit and breathe in Kento. He’d always imagined that Kento would have his own, unique, distinctive scent and right then, he felt like he’d been right, even if Kento just smelled like t-shirts and rain.
~
“You’ll all still be coming down to Osaka for my birthday, right?” Yuma asked quietly, looking as worried and shy as ever. Hokuto wanted to laugh, but Kento had beaten him to it, slapping Yuma affectionately on the back.
“Dude, like we’d miss it,” he told him. “Just ‘cause you’re not our front man doesn’t mean we won’t be friends, stupid.”
“Yeah,” Fuma chimed in, grinning. “We still need to face-cake you!”
“And you said you’d take us out to yakiniku,” Koichi added.
Hokuto just smiled until Yuma slowly smiled back at them all. “Don’t be silly, we’ll still keep in touch,” Hokuto told him, quieter than the rest. “It’s not like you’re leaving the country or anything.”
After the staff pulled Yuma from the room, Hokuto paused before turning to Kento. “We’re friends too, right?”
Kento gave him an odd look. “Well… yeah? Why?”
“Just… just wondering,” Hokuto replied after a moment with a small shrug.
A pinky appeared in his line of sight, followed by one of Kento’s distinctive smiles. “You worry about the weirdest things, Hokuto. Promise you, we’ll be friends for forever.”
Hokuto blinked in surprise, feeling his heart flutter for absolutely no reason as he looked from Kento to the offered pinky. A small smile spread over his lips.
“Forever,” he agreed, hooking pinkies.
~
Now the problem was that Hokuto wasn’t sure what to do when forever friends wasn’t quite what you wanted.
But it didn’t matter, he decided as he realized the walk was coming to an end, Kento’s arm still around him. There was a still a ‘forever’ to be had, even if it wasn’t during that walk.

A/N: This didn't turn out at all like I wanted it to and OMFG, HOW DID I END UP WRITING NAKAKEN FIC, I DO NOT LIKE THAT KID. T_T Ugh.
EDIT: AND I HAD TO MAKE HIM A TAG TOO, WTHWTHWTH.
(But really, I don't hate him. I actually love him with Hokuto and when he's making Fujigaya smile. I just think he's also an annoying try-hard. D: D: D:)
