Torchwood. Suzie-flavoured recs

Jun 27, 2009 22:45

Argh. It's been an utterly mad week full of work and commuting (though exciting work, and interesting people) hence the near-disappearance. If you've commented on posts during the last week huge apologies for the delay. Normal service resuming shortly.

But I do come bearing more Torchwood recs. Those of you that know me will be unsurprised that I ( Read more... )

WE'RE ALL COUNTING DOWN TO CHILDREN OF EARTH AND RUBBING OUR HANDS WITH FANNISH GLEE, RIGHT?

OMG, YES! Fortunately I'm very busy right now so that should make the time go faster. Right?

VERY MUCH SO YES. I can't believe I'm looking forward to work just so that Torchwood will feel relatively sooner.

PS- I see you your artfully bloodied Ianto icon, and raise you an artfully broody Ianto icon!

Except those of us who are also going "Oh, shit, I'd better finish that story before it gets Jossed!"

Pffft, jossed-schmossed I say. The majority of my favourite stories (which are the ones on the recs list) are jossed, but I still reread them. :) Though I'm combatting this by working on re-working ep-fic (for Out of the Rain, OH DEAR) which is pretty non-canon anyway.

Also: ooh, care to give a hint about what you're working on? I'm looking forward to it even without knowing.

Tcch. It was very much due. That fic of yours brings me so much joy, it's only right to spread it around. (You know, the only reason it took me so long to read it when I got into fandom was because being completely daft I read the title and assumed it was one of those kidfic stories. With Jack & Ianto being Suzie's, uh, actual daddies. And as fun as that trope is, it's not my cup of tea. But yes. *is silly*)

And yeah, if you haven't read Paramagnetic you're in for a treat. Plus: Suzie + engine grease + dancing, oh man.

WHY ISN'T IT JULY 6th YET?

I wrote Owen fic here: http://blue-fjords.livejournal.com/22285.html, and i recommend electro_club fic here: http://electro-club.livejournal.com/13402.html and adjovi fic here: http://adjovi.livejournal.com/8013.html. There! And do check out vera' meta!

Every day I ask myself why it's not July 6th yet. Though I'm also counting down to the 1st for the radio plays. WANT. NOW.

And three new tie-in novels. I have them preordered so I just have to wait for them to turn up in the post.

Ooooh. Do tell me if they're any good. I read Twilight Streets and-- didn't think it was bad but wasn't desperately impressed.

Have you heard In The Shadows, the Joseph Lidster audiobook? Really wonderful, read by Eve Myles, I was very, very surprised at how good it was.

Twilight Streets was one of the okay but not brilliant ones. Almost Perfect and Pack Animals were my favourites.

The audiobooks here cost about twice as much as the novels and I have problems processing sound without visual cues to help. I found Hidden and Everyone Says Hello and both of them took several sittings to get through, as did Lost Souls, but In the Shadows and Sin Eaters are both too new to be easily findable and I'm not paying NZ$47 for something so hard for me to listen to. :/
