...I really rather enjoyed the book; I read it a long time ago (around when I read Catcher In The Rye), though I'm not sure how high-school-me dealt with the issues you outline. I suspect I got as far as trying to distinguish between Faith-as-plot-device from Faith-as-real-life-component-of-the-human-condition, then threw up my hands in resignation.

Oh, and here. You wouldn't be surprised how easy that was :) If I could do it, et cetera, et cetera.

...it took about 4 minutes of percolation to place the origin, but why would you quote that movie?

Totally unrelated: don't read about "28 Days Later" (and "Se7en," but that's tangential) before sleeping: you wind up listening to Godspeed! and thinking about that evening last summer, all of us gathered together on your bed.

This might be mean of me, but I suspect that you have an easier time stomaching the hints of faith in Signs (I haven't seen Frailty) because they are more oblique and less Christian than those in Own Meany ( ... )
