This is me too. I have no problem with getting rid of the old newspapers, worn-out saucepans, and etc. but I love fabric that might be used to make into something useful...
I'm glad I'm past my glass bottle stage though.

Another thing that needs to be said is that the western world has a problem with all the waste it produces- and we shouldn't be sending things to landfill if they can possibly be re-used or recycled

It does seem to me that if the housekeeper's collection is her personal, privately owned stuff which she is stashing at the Meeting House, the situation is already out of hand, and if the pieces from her collection being kept there are nothing related to the Friends' schedule of worship over the course of the year or nothing to do with the orderly maintenance of the Meeting House, then even more so.

I just know it's my mother I hear in my head, demanding, "What if everybody did that?"
She raises a valid point, though: what if everybody did?

Some of the stuff is kitchenalia that we might use in the Meeting House.

But a toaster in the cloakroom- where space is limited? I think not.

Anticipating mortality I continue to get rid of. anything - giving items away. Better than ultimately having a bunch of house-clearance cowboys helping themselves.

We got rid of a lot of stuff today- including an office chair.

But somehow we keep accumulating. We love second-hand shops, and we love a bargain....
