First I should probably say that yeah, I'm back, again. And I'm even glad to be back. I was at home for the same amount of time as I was gone here, and I guess I could give the people from my world a few week's worth of updates but it's not much. Everyone's still here, right? Runaways? Nate? Claire ( Read more... )

I don't think there is such a thing as too young but a matter of how unprepared you are...or what you are prepared for.

What do you think you need to be prepared for?

There's spending your entire life with that person or wanting to spend your life with that person knowing you can't. I mean for this world, in any case.

I know I want to spend the rest of my life with them. Is that all you need, do you think?

Yes, but you're the one who runs things from day to day. Don't discount that.

I think you said once that you'd rather be here than in your own world. Welcome back. I didn't know if we'd see you again.

Thanks. I try to be useful.

It was even more than that this time. I don't want to leave Billy here alone, because I know what that's like. But things still aren't great at home either.

And you do very well at it.

So then you're still among the minority that prefers to be in the City rather than home. But, realizing that you've left someone here, I can imagine that would make matters still worse. I know I promise that Riff, Merry, and I would all escape together. But what little good that promise did--

It's not exactly what I envisioned for a career, but there's no point in doing something halfway.

Sometimes you see couples go home together or entire groups of people, but you can't rely on the City's charity for things like that. It's one of the few things that make me really angry at it - the deities - whichever.

Well at least you're honest. There's no point where you'd tell someone "you're way too young for that" or "you're not ready"?

Even if you can go home and not even remember it happened?

Do you think someone under the age of twenty is old enough to make the decision for themselves, then?

So I guess what I'm asking is, does what we do here have any meaning?

God, don't remind me, Teddy. It'll be a year in September. Time really does fly.

Seriously, a year? Well, I guess it was eight months before I went home. That's a long time.
