I usually don't involve myself too heavily with political discussions because it's simply too draining in the end to be worth it. But speaking as an independent and still not sure who to vote for, I'm going to have to say Sarah Palin was not a 'failure'. Even some of the harshest critics of the Republican party are giving her her just props in not tanking. She answered what she was most comfortable with answering, took charge when she needed to, and was fairly accurate with her facts (both candidates had some slips here and there). While Joe Biden seems to be the 'winner' of the debate, Sarah didn't fall into a pile of dog poo either. She held her ground and proved not to be an embarassing trainwreck to the Republican like they were fearing (and the Democrats were hoping for).
I guess she's a 'failure' depending on your views, and if you disagree with her views then obviously she is said failure.
I have to disagree.. I'm not a supporter of the McCain/Palin ticket, but Palin held her own last night. With only a few exceptions, I thought she answered the questions directly, and with impressive articulation. I don't think there's any doubt that Biden "won" the debate- his experience and level of comfort with the issues gave him an advantage that Palin could never 'rehearse'.. But Republicans certainly have no reason to be disappointed with the way she handled herself last night. It was a good debate.
It wasn't the train wreck that I expected, she didn't fall on her face like I thought she would (kind of hoped she would). But she didn't answer half the questions, she just veered off and talked about whatever the hell she felt like talking about. Biden for sure "won."
Exactly. That's why I think it WAS a train wreck. She didn't answer half of what she was asked, and the very fact that there WERE such low expectations for her show how incapable she is.
