The Overground is bustling with activity, showing that in a world where people are trapped or may even die, they still live.

A new and improved fountain located in The Square. The lights tune into the varying moods of The City and the glassy surface offers visions of the past, present, and future for those who wish to see them. But one cannot tell fact from fiction in these waters.

When you've made enough for supper, this is where you can eat it.

&the office [the office]
Need some help? Got a suggestion to make? Don't fear the metal and glass that surrounds this building, the city deities are always welcoming visitors to their office. That is, if the deities are there at all. Citizens may visit the office to plead their cases or make polite requests of the city gods. This building is the tallest in the city and is located just off the Square.

&city general [the hospital]
Perhaps the only building that can officially be called a hospital in The City. The majority of this complex is operated by autodocs and other sophisticated machinery, courtesy of Mouse. Other doctors, nurses, and practitioners of medicine are free to sign up for a position in City General. And if you're in need of an ambulance, remember just to call 666 on your Network device!

&the hall of the missing [the hall]
The Hall of the Missing's maintained by a man in an all-black suit. He's late for a party that's never gonna start and he has no name...or so he tells you. But he won't say much else besides, 'I have no name, and welcome to the Hall of the Missing.' This Hall's full of the ones who got out. The disappeared, the lucky, the few, the proud. And maybe you wanna be in those ranks with them, if you like that sort of thing. But even if you don't wanna be a hero, even if you love the darkness more than ever, your face will still tell the people who come after you that they, too, can find a way out. The pictures, the words inside always shift to reflect the people who've gotten out. Because once the City's got you, it doesn't really want to let you go...or maybe you don't want to let go of the City either. Only the man in black knows every face in every space, but he'll never tell you unless you've got something that will make him talk.

Doesn't matter in the end because people still turn up here anyway, surrounded by cold stone frames that almost...maybe feel like graveyard markers.

The place has a beautifully tiled floor, pillars, raised ceilings, a dome, low-hanging candle chandeliers, and more Eastern Orthodox church architecture than you can shake a stick at! Floor to ceiling windows line the three wings that don't have the altar in them, and they all have heavy velvet curtains.

Scholars' hallowed halls echo hollowly in this cathedral of collected disconnected thought. Every book on every thing for every need, but with every book in every where the trick of the trade is finding one that isn't for every need but your own. Every City on a map, every record in its Place, every aspect of the place you're In, but nothing ever goes missing until you need it so you'd better learn to need what you don't want and make do with what you've got. But be careful; every knowledge is power and every power corrupts, and every power in this place seeks to corrupt absolutely.

Wander around its halls, and you may find yourself stumbling across the occasional classroom or two, the most eager among the citizens sitting pretty in the antique desks-you won't find plastic chairs, here. Quills and ink wells for those who don't want to pay the pretty penny for mechanical pencils and gel pens. Don't bother graffiting the desks-it won't last, and you might find your head weighed down by a dunce cap for the rest of the week, or SNEAK written across your forehead with unwashable ink. The Academy doesn't always take the teachers' side, of course-or have you tried scraping gum off from under the desks?

Inquire or sign up at the front desk, if you're so inclined. The City has a greater number of teachers than you may think.

Everyone needs a moment where they can feel like a kid again. This playground has everything from the swings to the jungle gym and even the occasional cotton candy vender. It's like any other you might find in the City...except that its crowning jewel is a very large slide paying homage to an old curse. No matter what age you are you're never too old to take a ri~de.

An internet cafe located a mere few feet away from the fountain. With its flashing lights & neon signs, it's pretty hard to miss & welcomes both newcomers & oldtimers alike.

Need to get away from the bumps and bass of the City’s clubs? Look for that thumbs up sign and come to the Coliseum where the highlights are well made margaritas and properly wired car bombs. Of course classic pints and lagers are also available. There’s counter space, table space, booth space, and private partitions in the rear of the pub for absolute solitude. Above the bar level are a handful of simple rooms for temporary travelers. Toss a tune on the juke or break a rack at the pool tables. The Coliseum doesn’t care about your name. The only one of it's kind in the city, Pandora's is the place to be at. Whether it's to take the man or woman of your dreams out to dinner or just hang out with friends in the lounge. Music floats through the speakers both inside and out and the lighting in the restaurant proper lending to an intimate atmosphere while the lounge leaned to a more jovial experience. Pandora's offers a menu full of delicious and beautiful foods that would satisfy even the most pickiest of customers, with a name fitting for the city it resides in. A low and steady rhythm calls to you from across the evening street. You follow your ears to a set of double doors where just beyond you see the play of lights, the color of the blue moon. You walk inside and as your eyes adjust to their constant play, watching the night sky dance up above you. The words seem so familiar, but they make no sense at all. An old crumbling exterior masks a high-tech laboratory. Five floors above ground and five floors below, it is up to the elevators to decide where you go. There are no buttons inside aside from open and close, and they can see right through you, your heart, your mind. The better your intentions, the higher the floor, and the more malice in your heart, the farther down in the basement you'll go. It has everything a researcher could ever hope for in a lab, and the most wondrous of dreams and darkest of wishes can be fulfilled here. So what will you create? Sitting in the wings, she'll watch you play. And when time's up? Pack up your bags and go. Your record'll be with you the next day.

A simple farmyard at the edge of a not so simple city. Consisting of a customary red barn, surrounding paddocks, stables, and a variety of different animals, its focus is on the care of livestock. There's nothing like waking up at the crack of dawn to muck out...or so they say.

An elegant tea house barely a block away from the hot springs, the Koukakurou is a destination for those who have a taste for the history and elegance of Japan. Come in for a good cup of tea, some friendly service, the tune of the shamisen, and a taste of the old Kyoto and its quaint charm. Quality Japanese food served daily, and, if you have the right connections and some cash, a pretty girl to entertain your whims. Be wary of the owner, who will make sure all is in check, and only the creme de la creme will be considered for their more exclusive services. It looks unassuming enough. An ordinary, two-storey affair; a striped awning in front with a rather modest-sized board proclaiming the name Lux. It seems like just a small piano bar, but once you open the door the inside is enormous. The ceiling seems to disappear, dissolving into darkness with only sumptuous red curtains and chandeliers to proclaim its existence. Up front, on a round, raised platform, sits a sleek, black grand piano. To it's side is a well-stocked bar. They say there is a cellar downstairs where rarer vintages are kept. There is a spiral, metal staircase that leads to the second floor - off-limits to everyone except the owners and manager, of course. The pillars and archways are wreathed with flowering, exotic vines, and hummingbirds buzz from flower to flower. So sit in one of the various chairs and tables scattered about on the floor, order a drink or two, and listen to old jazz standards played by someone who was around when they were written. The house on that hill is not the chateau it appears to be, it’s like an agora enclosed by walls. The modest brick red exterior belies the wide open spaces within.

Piaculum Palace is divided into several sections; Courtyard, East Wing, West Wing, North Face, and Wine Cellar. A fountain boasting nymphs and cherubs sits in the middle of the Courtyard, streaming during the day and sporting warm colored lights at night. The East Wing has a palatial interior fit for a classical angel. The West Wing is more modern in design while retaining the white color scheme. The North Face houses Piaculum’s offices where the staff conduct their administrative duties. Finally, the Wine Cellar provides the Palace with all tastes of alcoholic entertainment. Due to the nature of the vintage housed here, public access to the cellar level is heavily restricted. Security throughout the rest of the building is ever present but non-intrusive… to a point.

No city is complete without a place to call your own safe deposit vault. Drop in and open a savings account with the bank where the tellers seem to always be helpful, the guards invisible, and security quite tight. It's an easy, quiet enviornment for letting out your deepest, darkest secrets, and don't worry...your head psychiatrist will be able to help sort out those problems. A small shop sits in the City where inside one can find shelves and tables cluttered with what appear to be random knick knacks and trinkets. Look closer shopper and you'll find that these are mo ordinary items. Magical items, potions and ingredients for spells sit amongst the dust and tapestries. The church and chapel - a small church made of wood with a pretty little interior. Simple, inelegant, and quiet; a good place to commune with the Lord. With a white washed exterior and a simple, pewed interior, it's a haven for meditation and prayer. [thanks to sealedinthunder]

&Cat’s Eye Café [cat's eye café] [outside] [logo] A relatively average sized café that stands tucked away down a little dirt path at the edge of the city, it’s a suiting environment meant for comfort and distraction from a long day’s work. Regardless of the chaos outside, a customer is always treated with a warm welcome, no matter who they are~ Fresh coffee, hot chocolate, warm pastries, and anything your sweet tooth may desire can be found here! You can get crepes with chocolate, whip cream, ice cream or fruit, or a mix of anything of the above to satisfy a need for something sweet, or choose from a pizza crepe or a turkey sandwich crepe for a delicious mid-day snack or meal! The Seiza Tea Shop, named after the traditional Japanese tea ceremony seating, is located in the market district and is easy to find due to the very special door. The shop sells tea and tea equipment, including cups, tea pots, traditional kakejiku, and even some pastry samples from the Koukakurou. It does not, like the tea house, actually serve tea - but instead it specializes in providing bags and boxes with hundreds of different kinds of tea leaves. &Cassagioso [one]
Reminiscent of an 20's speakeasy, and run by a man who dabbled himself, you've an authentic old time Italian mafia business courtesy New York's Gandor family. At least, in this place, alcohol isn't illegal anymore. Small, but comfortable, the old fashioned bar is a place to put up your feet after a hard day, knock back a few and run through a pack before you stumble home to the missus. Enjoy crooners soft in the background and lively poker games down below, just don't try starting any trouble. The proprietor doesn't die easy. Just outside the main City area, a two story building with off-white exterior sits. The orphanage is open for any child with no family or friends in the City, until someone from their world appears or someone from the City adopts them. A small business with much to offer, this clothing store has plenty to offer to every citizen. Loosely translated as meaning 'Merchant' or 'Shopkeeper' in Japanese, Akindo aims to provide clothes and accessories for every style and/or occassion. From formal to casual, from punk to professional, this store provides clothes for any and every need, as well as those little extras that complete the outfit. Staff and friendly and willing to help with anything required, even offering consultation and advice as part of the service. Located near the the city courthouse, the new police offices are brand new and ready for use. A civilian will be caught on camera as they make their way through the trees into the spacious and brightly-lit lobby. Much less intimidating than that old island jail! Made out of an unbreakable glass with room for expansion, this modern space is filled with all the things that a good police force needs to operate: floors of offices and meeting halls, briefing rooms and an emergency centre, labs and white-collar jail cells. An informal neighborhood bar and jazz club; it's a little bit of a hole in the wall but there's always good music, good drinks, and dancing. Food they serve a little, but it's best to eat before getting here. Owned by a Fable, there's always a seat for anyone with a healthy appreciation of the blues, and a nice spot for a night on the town, a drink, a place to soak your blues away or a second or a third date, because the musician playing will always consider a request for young love. Every wall, every surface, every shelf is covered with used books of every description imaginable; stacks obscure the view through the wide windows, and carts rest outside during business hours holding the spillover. Though it’s a bit cramped, b&s has a welcoming, friendly feel to it. The owner is always happy to chat with browsers, and generally doesn’t look too sad when someone actually decides to buy a tome-though it might be best not to touch the Wilde first editions. The door to the back room is always locked, and even the employees don’t seem to have a key... although occasionally the proprietor can be seen walking out of it. [mr_phale ♥♥♥]

&Victrola [interior] [two]
Victrola is a bar offering not only all sorts of alcohol and other guilty pleasures, it also offers live burlesque performanceson the main stage. The music is loud, the atmosphere light. It's a place where people can be transformed into another time and feel free to let loose. No judgement, pure escape. Something avangarde with a decadent touch to it. Designed after bars popular in USA in the '20s allowes the patrons a place perfect for sin. To paraphrase a common saying; "What happens at Victrola, stays at Victrola." [basstardchuck ♥♥♥]

&The Obstacle Course [one]
Built by one spunky school girl on the wastegrounds behind the old City lab, this challenge of physical skill can be easily reached through the subway network. This planned course pushes people to their limits, testing their strength, speed, balance, coordination, stamina and determination. There is diverse variety in each obstacle, from balance beams to rope climbs, tyre walks to monkey bars, net crawls to blockade fields. People can either push themselves to their limits or challenge someone else to race. Either way, citizen now have no excuse not to be active! [missranktwo ♥♥♥]

&The Hymns of Lorelei [exterior] [waiters] [waitresses]
Situated beside the Sunny Side Bakery, the Hymns of Lorelei is a small restaurant catering to all cultural tastes and cravings. With the simple decor along with the elaborate uniforms, all customers will be certain to feel comfortable and welcomed. Stop by for a quick take-out meal or sit in for a charming date. One of the original owners was a terrible cook, but don't let that affect your fine dining decision. No, this isn't a maid café, either.
