ATTN: All Citizens
RE: OPEN TRADE
CITY INC. regrets to inform its RESIDENTS of a malfunction in regular CITY service and the assumption of an indefinite voyage.
In order to return to operative status, CITY INC. has been approached for an urgent mutually benefiting transaction. RECRUITMENT is required to meet these terms.
The interested are to gather the following ITEMS [list pending] from upcoming venues. Each RESIDENT will have his or her choice of a reasonable REWARD for the FIRST item s/he brings in.
The RESIDENT to collect the most ITEMS over time will be FIRST to be sent to his or her home world.
Travel and unstable service will continue until ITEM collection and the ensuing TRANSACTION have been accomplished. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Further details available at: DEITY OFFICE, SQUARE ST.
- CITY INC.
...as the 'charming' deity message might reveal, Citizens are invited to give up their time, energy, strength and creativity and somehow gather a set of particular tokens available in unknown quantities in the visited worlds. Every day, characters will receive a deity message with a picture and description of the items sought in each world, but not with their locations. Thankfully, characters' network devices will come in handy for that purpose, as they will emit a white glow, or white noise when in the vicinity of Ye Good Ol' Loot.
For your reference, items / world + their whereabouts >>!
Day 1: Pigs in Space → the items will be
energy crystals, trapped in either membrane cocoons or in circuit boards in alien areas. Heads up! Some of the aliens like their energy sources, and in some cases the latter's light might be what keeps nastier predators at bay (so be mindful about how you remove them!) Grabbing crystals from abandoned areas might be easier, but there is always the risk of getting a crystal that doesn't work. So, if you want to give your character the 'thrill' of ending up empty-handed...
Day 2: Clever Girl →
stone eggs, littered among actual dinosaur eggs, in nests and lairs.
Day 3: World War Z →
gasoline cans, a commodity to most Citizens, but a survival horror luxury. Characters can outmaneuver zombies or human refugees and run off with their stashes of goods. A lucky few might even find an abandoned vehicle or gas station - but are they really convenient goods, or baits set by zombies? All in all, mind the guilt trip, folks! These might be some poor survivor's last chance at a clean get away that you're sniping!
Day 4: Swash Swash Buckle Buckle → every pirate's got a treasure, and a few have
ancient coins! These fine beauties can be found in ship captain's gold chests, on the captains themselves, perhaps on mermaids or other
sea creatures, in ship-wrecked areas, or at the bottom of the ocean!
Day 5: One Fantasy to Rule Them All → medieval fare for medieval times:
flint will be the order of the day. While bits and pieces can be found among pebbles, Citizens' safest bet is to hunt through the world residents' tools. As for the punishment for stealing... well, best hope these knights come with great chivalry.
Day 6: The World Next Door → possibly taking after
a famous example, mecha armies and some of the robots under 'Tokyo''s patrols will be powered up by
energy cores. Getting one's hands on those cores won't be the easiest task, but crafty Citizens can always try to infiltrate troops and armories, or take down some of the robots on their own!
Characters have all of 24 hours after their arrival to a new world to go about scavenging, or just exploring. Network devices will produce a (to some)
familiar sound every ten minutes of the last hour, warning Citizens to make for the City, now, now, now.
Or else.
A couple of rules about the wishes/whatnot:
It's basically one wish / item. If an entire group worked to get one item, the wish will only go to one of them (please work out whom among yourselves!)
A character can only get one wish in the course of the event, regardless of how many items s/he collects. However, the character who gathers the most items can win the deity-promised return home*, so please put down how many items your character has managed to snatch! (It's perfectly fine to keep replying to the thread as your character does so.)
* since no one wants to lose a character, there will obviously be a catch XD
Deities don't exactly care how Citizens get these items: steal them from the world or each other, all good!
Whether officially surrendered at the deity office or not, the items will disappear from their captors once the latter have brought them into the City (or to their traveling homes).
We're not asking for proof that the items were collected, but please don't make the gathering seem very easy! It's more about challenging your characters than anything else!
Reply to THIS THREAD within one week with the wish you'd like your character to get. We leave wishes up to you guys, but please keep them moderate and understand we'll step in if they seem too big. We'll get back to your comment with whether a wish is or isn't doable!
