Nothing says loving like the layer of fat on top of a bowl of home-made beef broth.

Yummy.

The kids took a liking to Baka's (grandma in Serbian, thanks) beef broth, and Nada has been making a lot of it lately... Comfort in a bowl.

And greasy lips.

Heaven.

Lately, it's been a slice o'shank....

Browned, the carrots/celery/potato/parsnip added.

Simmer and skim.

Out with the meat and veg, in with some wee egg noodles and homemade knedle (dumplings, for you white folks...)

We take turns on the boiled beef - little bit of horseradish... Yummy.
