Jahreskonzert 2014: Musikkapelle Ohlstadt

Two weeks ago while we were in Ohlstadt, we were privileged to attend a yearly concert of the Musikkapelle Ohlstadt, the town of Ohlstadt's musical association. Dagmar Diwok, reporter for the local newspaper, alerted us to the event and accompanied us to the hall where it was held

The costumes are traditional Bavarian dress and they're worn very often...even just for going out to dinner. What we think of as a touristic thing isn't! It surprised me at first long ago when I first exoerienced it all.

I'm pretty certain that 'French horn' is an ophicleide- a rare beastie these days. :o)

Yes, you're right...though it'a first cousin to the French Horn.

Yes...it's very local and popular. What a treat!
