I agree. Also, I spotted the dolls house straight away. I have dolls house issues, what can I say?

I got it on the copper/wooden pan thing, but I still quite liked that there was this slow delay where they kept showing you TOTALLY DOLL'S HOUSEY THINGS but still hadn't said that was exactly what was happening. It sort of made the old lady disappearing into bins etc less horrifying?

Doll's houses are v scary and indeed ideal fodder for spooky Who. But am relieved I'm not the only one to find it a bit grr and meh.

How are you? I hope you're not all poorly and horrid. :(

The copper pot thing confirmed what I was thinking - I don't know what triggered it, I just went OOH IT'S A DOLLS HOUSE really on.

Did you ever read Rumer Godden's The Doll's House? I love that SO MUCH.

I'm ok - very tired. I keep meaning to post but not doing it.

Oh, yes, adore that. Did you watch the TV series? We used to take the piss out of it, but I secretly loved it to bits.

Boo to tiredness. Hope you are curled up in your jimjams in a comfy way.

Like most Gatiss episodes it was a fine idea, but poorly executed.
He just seems too much of a fanboy to write a decent episode of Doctor Who. As it was his only decent episode from series 1 was rewritten by RTD in places.

There is something about Amy that has probably been staring us in the face since series 5. I still think her house was very odd with the staircase that seemed to lead nowhere. Spoilerwise ? Not a lot to go onto to be honest. Aside from itunes releasing a monster file for episode 12 early and spoiling the best bits.

I did enjoy his Sherlock episode (certainly a million times more than rubbish Curse of the Black Spot man's one), so he can clearly manage writing a decent telly script - but this was really lacking in event. Amy and Rory end up in a doll's house! Brilliant! And then they... walk around it. There's something scary in the wardrobe! Let's... look at it for ages. It felt like a good concept padded out with some good scares but not enough variety or real surprises.

So should I just skip this one then? Nothing to see here, move on? I could use an excuse to not spend an hour watching telly if I'm not really going to get anything out of it.

Some people seem to have enjoyed it, but it's clearly a filler episode. Some good creepy moments, but in essence it's a retread of 'Fear Her', only without the horrible Olympics bit.

I am with you on this one. Really bad. (& it not only shoves aside the women, but has NO people of colour in the whole block? Sheesh. If glowy-teeth aliens invade, they're screwed.)

& Gatiss is getting as bad as RTD in reusing names. *icon of a not-crap Gatiss char also called Purcell who was played by Peter Davison*

Ha! I didn't remember he was a Purcell as well.

Well, that was... an episode written by Mark Gatiss.

Nicely put. I do wish he wouldn't do all of the things he does.

The thing is, on paper, I ought to like his schtick. It's just the reality that's disappointing.
