Duke Nukem: Couldn't-Care-Less-If-It-Was-Never

So apparently the release of "Duke Nukem: Forever", the game that mole people with strange and simple needs have inexplicably been "waiting for" for 14 years, has been pushed even further back.

I don't care; the first "Duke Nukem" game was kind of fun in the sense that the only other games like it I had ever played before were "Wolfenstein 3-D" and ( Read more... )

For you, which FPS games top your list? Which is the best? Which is the favorite?

The original Bioshock is pretty high up there, but that's mainly on the strength of the storyline, and I don't know if I would call it my favorite. Goldeneye 64 gets full nostalgia points, and the original "Halo" was the first FPS in a long time that grabbed my attention (and then every single FPS after it was the exact same game, so I don't know if it would hold up as well for me). Other honorable mentions are Farcry 2 and Deus Ex: Invisible War. But mainly, I just don't play FPS's anymore... every time I play one, I have the sinking feeling that I've already played this game 60 or 70 times before.

I know what you mean. I got another question for ya, I don't play a lot of video games, but I have a lot of friends who do, and I also watch a lot of video being played by them. While I do agree with your point that a lot of FPS shooters do bring one or two new features to the FPS genre, I felt that FPS games in general have only had 2 maybe 3 games that were new, excuding Doom. Goldeneye, Halo, then Call of Duty. Would you agree with that? Should I incorporate PC games in here too, for example, Counter-Strike was a very popular game for a LONG time, until Modern Warfare came into play. What do you think?

If you're asking if I think that most FPS's aren't bringing anything new to the table... absolutely yes. It takes reports that something unique has been done to get me to even *play* an FPS these days... and even then, I still usually walk away unsatisfied.

My PC-gaming experience is pretty limited, and the only FPS I've played at length on the PC was the free download for "Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory". I did have a lot of fun on that game, but it was also the first FPS I ever played that was online multiplayer. And while I can still occasionally hop onto an FPS multiplayer game and have a good time, for the most part its an experience that doesn't impress me much these days.
