I feel your computer woes. I suffer from my own, but the broski offered (as a Christmas present?) to fix and add stuff to my computer to make it dazzling and better than new. :)

Ask for a new comp for Christmas? I know they're pricey ... but ... it may work!

I concur about asking for a new one for christmas and I'd sweeten the pot by whinging about how you need it for school - it worked for me (and then i whinged about how crap that one was and got a new to go to Japan... it couldn't hurt m'dear).

Oh, trust me, the family is very well aware of the status of my laptop. The problem is that I know damn well they can't afford to buy me one. *sniffles*
