As for genre, might I suggest evil fuckery of a most heinous nature?
Which reminds me, Christopher Moore is another writer that makes me very jealous. As Buffy fans, I highly recommend you and Pam both read "Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story", and the sequel "You suck". If you like those, try "Practical Demonkeeping" or "Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal". And, it's a little obscure, but if you can find it, read Robert Rankin's "Armaggedon the Musical". Not as much filth, but it reads a lot like a Douglas Adams book.
I shall add those to the "To Read" list. I've just recently discovered the novels of Gaiman and loved American Gods, and tolerated Neverwhere. I'd like to read Stardust(?) before the movie hits.. I've also finished Crooked Little Vein and want Warren Ellis to write things all the time. At the risk of getting burned out on his style I'm in a withdrawal stage right now having finished CLV and getting the message from Amazon that the next volume of Nextwave has been delayed. Wah.
I like American Gods, too. I was amused by the fact that the climactic scene took place in a cheesy tourist attraction on a mountain I could see from where I worked every day.
Of course, my favorite Gaiman was the book he wrote with Terry Pratchet "Good Omens: the nice and accurate prophecies of Agnes Nutter, witch", that I re-read a couple of months ago, and is still in my top 5 books ever.
I've never read any Warren Ellis, but I get the feeling you might recommend him.
Amazon.com had a link to the first chapeter of CLV, and I read that last night. It really did sound like your ideal writing voice. I'll put in a request for it at the library. They usually get the things I ask for within a few weeks.

Do you get the G4 channel, and if so, have you seen Code Monkeys yet?
