today i went into the old city. we were in the christian/armenian quarter, and a little bit in the jewish quarter. we did some market-like shopping, which was a lot of fun, and stopped in at Moriah's... the largest judaica store in jerusalem. whether that is actually the case, i am not sure, but that is what they boast. apparently they give 15 ( Read more... )

My internet is up and functioning. Vonage isn't set up yet. We aren't willing to get offline for long enough yet to unplug the router and set it up.

Correction. David Ellenson's position title is not 'head dean of HUC' it is 'president of HUC'. We had a chat with him in the presidents' apartment on HUC's campus yesterday. tonight we are going to dinner as a class, and then going to hear him lecture on his new book. Today I met the head dean of HUC- Rabbi David Ellenson. His response was "hm, I recognize your name." Imagine me freaking out on the inside because I am super geeky, but remaining established and well composed on the outside. i am here. i am fine. i am tired. i am in a internet cafe and don't want to blast too much more money (just got a cell phone). should have internet set up in the apartment soonish.
