It is still extremely weird that we start classes every week on sundays instead of mondays. But I suppose in a Jewish state, it makes sense. Still, it is tuesday, and tomorrow is our last day of Ulpan (hebrew class) for the week. Thursday we have another trip into Jerusalem with our teacher Ophir. nothing too new. It is shabbat. last night I went to services outside on the HUC lawn overlooking the old city. It was especially fun because in the middle of services, the shofars were blown all over the city and since we were outside we could hear them very well ( Read more... )

Today we went on a trip around Jerusalem with a teacher that we studied some text with last night. Our focus was the establishment of the temple mount as a holy place, and the things around the time of King David that occurred in the area. Specifically looking at the City of David. The switch to Bet has been great. The class is much more interactive, I am less frustrated and therefore able to learn more, and the teacher is pretty funny. Today, I sat in on Kita Bet... the level two class. It was an interesting shift from class three, in that I could actually understand what the teacher was saying. I cycled again today. There is an early afternoon class so Emily H. and I went because I enjoyed it so much the day before. A little bit of it was in hebrew, but all of the important instructions were in english. Emily said that she had a much better time than she thought she would.
