One day, you arrive at the school looking oh so happy, ready to tell your best-friend, Jaesoon, that funny cartoon that your mommy let you watch last night. But as you wait and wait...and wait for him to arrive with that sweet smile of his and chubby cheeks, you kind of realized that he's not coming today. You puff your cheeks and bites your lower lip in worry, thinking that maybe he's sick. So you, again, waited for him the next day and same as yesterday he didn't come, so you ask your teacher in that small voice of yours what happened to him.
"Where's Jaesoonie, teacher Kim?" You asked, eyes blinking innocently and hands fidgeting with each other.
He sighs and pats your head, looking at you with sad eyes. "He... went on a vacation."
Your eyes lighten up then, ever so curious. Ever so innocent. "Oh! Where did he go? When's Jaesoonie coming back?" You smile, teeth showing and eyes forming into an eye smile.
"I don't know, Seungie." His answer made you frown and you watch as a kid call him and he left you, standing still with a sad look in your face.
You realize then that you just have to wait for him to come back.
----
You sit at a café with your friends, albeit all of them are guys, but you didn't care. Sipping your cappuccino slowly, you sigh as a thought come into your mind.
It has been years... you said to yourself and scoffs bitterly inside you. Years and he didn't come back.
You look at your friends then, their happy faces while talking to each other enough to distract you for a moment from your distant thoughts. But it came back again, making you reminisce the past.
Your best friend in two years and probably, your first love, never came back from his so called vacation. Now or earlier when you hit puberty, you realize that no, he didn't went to vacation. He just up and left you alone without even a word of goodbye. You wondered, and still wonders, why he left. Why he didn't told you, why.. There are so many whys in your mind that even you can't keep up.
A year later after he left, a new boy transffered to your school. Older than you, and you took on him so easily when the other people around you tried and failed hard to make the introvert in you open up to them. You enjoyed the protectiveness that he shows everytime someone teases you. At lunch time, you eat with him and the friends that he made when he first arrive at the school. He's friendly and everyone adored him as a kid and up to now, people still loves him.
You enjoyed calling him "oppa!" and you two would laugh when he pulls you into a hug.
You feel happy everytime he grabs your hand and squeezes it in reassurance everytime you're nervous.
And the feeling grew, grew into something that you think is love. You still do think it's love, not know, 'cause you're unsure. Unsure of everything around you except that the boy that you've trusted with all your heart without him knowing, left you.
"Seungie?" A familiar voice snaps you out of your thoughts and you look up with a bright smile, brushing your bangs out of your forehead so you can look at him clearly.
"Doojoon-oppa," You greet softly, reaching out for his hand as you scoot aside and pulls him down beside you with all your strength.
He chuckles then and wraps an arm around you while gaining the attention of your other friends."Yah, yah! Listen, I have something to tell you guys."
Kikwang and Yoseob stopped their bickering while Dongwoon and Kibum, known as Key, snaps their head to the oldest of the group, pausing their gossiping that happens everyday.
"Are you and Seungie going to marry now?" Yoseob teases, making you blush a scarlet shade of red and reach out to pinch his cheek, hard, earning you an ouch in the process.
Doojoon laughs, pulling you closer and kissing the top of your head. "No, not yet." He says playfully, but you detect the seriousness in his voice and your heart skip a beat. "Anyway, I just want to tell you guys that my cousin is coming later. He just arrive in town earlier in the morning."
"That cousin you constantly talk about?" Kikwang asks, almost stated.
"Yeah, that cousin." You feel Doojoon's nod and you wonder if this cousin of his is something like him or opposite. He's been talking about him since you two were still friends and now that you two are more than that, you still hear his praise to him.
Doojoon is an amazing guy, you know that. Everybody knows that, and you don't know anyone who's more amazing than him. But sometimes, even if you love him. Love him with all your heart, you can't help but think he can do better than you. You who's not sure of her future, who only loves music and dancing, who doesn't know if it's love or only adoration, but you call it love anyways.
You who still thinks of that guy with chubby cheeks and infectious smile.
Time passes as you sit in that café with your friends and boyfriend. Talking about school and your outside life, even though there's nothing much to say really. You don't have an eventful life and neither do they, to be honest. Still, you talk and drink and eat and smile and laugh and you forgot that there's someone who's gonna join you sometime later until the ringing of Doojoon's phone is heard by all of you.
"Hello?" You turn your head to look at him, a fond smile on his face as he answers the phone. "At the café nearby... yeah.. that. Okay, bye. See you."
When he hung-up, you point at the phone that's now in his pocket and asks, "Your cousin?"
"Yeah, he's coming now." He smiles and then turns to talk about video games with Dongwoon, leaving you to look outside. You watch as the leaves fall from the tree. It's the early autumn and the weather is getting colder, but still warm for you to wear summer clothes. You love the autumn season. The falling leaves, the constant rain, the darker days. You love all of it. You think it's peaceful and beautiful and serene.
A tap on your shoulder snaps you out of your reverie and makes you turn to the person. You raised your eyes and meets familiar brown orbs, but you don't know where you know it from.
"Seungie, this is my cousin, Junhyung." You look at Doojoon, eyes slightly wider than usual and then turns your sight to the male standing in front of your table.
The boy named Junhyung smiles, a very sweet infectious smile that made your heart beat wildly. You examine his face, the chubby cheeks, the heart-shaped lips, the brown strands of hair. Flashes of memories ran through your mind and you bite your lip. You'll know that lips anywhere. It's imprinted on your mind since you were six years old and memorized every lift, every move it makes to form a smile or a grin or a smirk.
He's staring at you too when your eyes meet his, meeting his intense gaze. You search his eyes, finding questions after questions lingering there and you don't doubt it's reflected in yours too. You forgot everything around you because that intense feeling is back in your heart, squeezing and suffocating you.
He opens his mouth and you watch, you watch as he utters your name in his now deep and husky voice. "S..seungie?" You can see his hand reaching out, on its way to touch your cheek when you scoot away, scoot away before you burn. Burn and break into pieces, because you know, from the very start, he's the only one that can break you. Only one who broke your little heart eight years ago.
You gulp then and it feels like a lump is stuck in your throat, making you unable to gulp all of the things you want to say and his name escapes your lips in a trembling voice. "Jaesoonie..." And when you did utter his name, you're reminded of the times he wants you to call him oppa, but you don't want to because you're older than him in months, so you're the noona. You're reminded on how his small hand grabs your fragile one and drags you in your not-so-private tree house just in the outskirts of the playground, hidden by big trees and tall grasses. You're reminded on how he promised, promised an "I'll never leave you," in his quiet voice, eyes full of tears that he doesn't want to fall and lips quivering. You remembered how you nod and kisses his cheek in that innocent way and smiles brightly at him, replying with an, "I'll never leave you too, Jaesoonie!" Your voice cheerful, full of promise, full of honesty.
And now you remember how he broke that promise, how you kept yours but in a way didn't, how your heart opened up again and how you forgot the feeling you get when you were with him.
You shake your head, looking away from him and pushes Doojoon out of the way, then you run. Run, run, run as far as you can away from him.
Jaesoon.
Junhyung.
Whoever he is now.
And you stop, seeing the now abandoned tree house. You smile to yourself and climbs it slowly, carefully, afraid that you'll break it and it will crumble to pieces. You stayed there, hugging your knees against your chest, long soft hair in disarray and cheeks flushed a shade of pink. You looked around and closed your eyes, a slight smile gracing your soft face as you remember how you carved both your names on the threshold of the tree house. Sloppy and ugly and childish, but it was what you can do while you waited for him to come back seven and a half years ago...
A/N2: So.... What happened here exactly? e_o lol Sorry. The DooSeung.. not much JunSeung. Sorry. I feel like I need to write this, so. I'm not going to write an everyday chapter of their life. Nope.
