Everybody's experience or idea of "God" is different. One can have faith without attending church, but in church each person is supposed to believe the exact same things about the nature of God. Therefore, it is illogical to attend church as no one there has the same perception of God but they are supposed to as dictated by the pastor/minister/etc.

This logic void in less structured churches, of course.

It goes back as well to "Don't tell me what to believe, and I won't tell you what to believe." No one has the answer, so each person does the best they can with what they have learned and experienced to date, which cannot by its nature be shared.

I agree, but I cannot escape the assertion that there is only one correct interpretation.

Do we have to percieve God as God percieves him/her/itself?

I don't know. Does salvation depend on a correct perception of God? Can a human even HAVE a full understanding of God, or carry the same perceptions of self that God does?

Is it possible to achieve the correct interpretation without being God yourself? Or is it beyond human experience? Ten people can witness an accident, or judge Miss America, or take in a painting, and while each perception is real, all are different. Is one interpretation always more correct than the others? Can God encompass all interpretations?
