I'm one of those people who makes friends thanks to "forced" social situations -- where I see the same people over and over. Work was an excellent way for me to break out of my shell again and meet new people. I can't fathom using dating sites to meet anyone -- even just to develop friendships. It boggles the mind.

Good luck to you. :)

I have been there myself. I am even guilty of rating churches on how easy it is to make friends there, rather than on how well they spread the message...

This describes so many shy people-- it's easier to make friends when other people feel they know you and vice versa. Because socializing is daunting, and strangers are even moreso.

but when I resist the change and let it pass me by, I come back to the beginning, with the added weight of the previous attempt.
This is so true. It's unhelpful, but our minds tend to work that way.

I wish you luck in this venture. Knowing that you want it is a huge aid in continuing to try.

*Hugs*

I've had/have struggles with this too. Most of my friends now are people I knew in school and many of those pull away in, as you say, the way time and space allows. I'm terrible at meeting new people.

Hope it all works out for you.

I can relate to this so much. I come back to the beginning, with the added weight of the previous attempt. This feeling applies to several things in my life. Nicely done.
